羽田登喜男 Hata Tokio
Hata Tokio's works are not merely garments, but masterpieces of cultural significance that should be passed down to future generations. For this reason, his kimonos are highly regarded by museums and collectors, continuing to captivate many people to this day.
"The luxury of wearing Japan’s beauty"
The thoughts and artistry embedded in each of Haneda Tokio's creations enhance the elegance of the wearer.
Hata was a pioneer who successfully purified Kaga Yuzen with his unique sensibility and expanded it onto the canvas of Kyoto Yuzen. His works, often centered on themes of nature such as flowers, birds, and the seasons, are especially famous for their depictions of mandarin ducks (a symbol of fidelity).
In 1986, he created a full ceremonial kimono titled “Zuishō Tsuru Yoku Mon’yō” (Auspicious Crane Bathing Design), which was later gifted by Kyoto Prefecture to the late Princess Diana of the British Royal Family.
